Do it yourself is easy. There is no difficulty in doing that. I did everything by myself and I don't see any reason hiring a lawyer at all.
Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.html
to download forms and do EXACTLY what you are asked to do.
If you have specific questions, you can post your questions here. People will be willing to help. But right now, it is time for you to do some homework.
