As soon as you get H-1b transfer receipt, you can begin to work. Totally, you get 180 days period before the decision of H-1b transfer. Otherwise, why does not your boss another H1b application for you? Using the premium process, it takes only 3 weeks. Since you I-485, you can work with EAD also.
