探亲签证，是否必须在3个月内来美，否则就作废

想让妈妈年底去签证，然后4月份来美国(如果签到的话)，但是听说B2是一年多次往返，可是必须在拿到签证的3个月内来美，否则就作废，不知道是不是阿，
