据我们消息，从2006年11月4日起，Exchange Visitor Program 将由之前的3年限期延
长至5年。Exchange Visitor Program 是专为外国学者来美进行授学，研究或其他用途
而设的，一般在其 Program 结束后，申请人需返回其原来的国家并在2年内不能再使来
美。以下为有关信息：

As of November 4, 2006, current and future professor and research program
participants under the Exchange Visitor Program will be eligible for five
years of program participation. This extends the previously permitted three
year duration maximum. Through the Exchange Visitor Program, foreign
nationals may visit the United States temporarily to teach, lecture, study,
observe, conduct research, consult, train, or demonstrate special skills.
Designated sponsoring organizations facilitate the entry of foreign
nationals into the United States to complete the objectives of any one of 13
program categories. At the conclusion of their program, participants are
expected to return to their home countries. This new rule also implements a
two-year bar on repeat participation in the program.
