Some got luck: My friend got GC in 4 months

My friend in a company in L.A. ted I-140 EB1b in June 2006, I-485 ted in Aug. 2006, I-140 approval in early Sept. 2006, I-485 approval in early Oct. 2006. GC received in mid October 2006. Cheers! In Texas Center.
My I-140/I-485 EB1b in NSC concurrently ted in late August, 2006, ed premium processing 10/10/06, I-140 approved on 10/16/06. Don't know when I-485 will be approved. Hope I can have the same luck as my friend in LA.
Question: If I want to go back to China next summer, should I apply for EAD and AP now, or wait for GC? It could be approved by next April._(a)
