insufficient CA immigration

Hi,
I want to apply for Canada immigration. Question is that if it is possible to add in more material after submitting the application . I didn't have all the document now, however, I don't want to postpone my application. Since the application will sit on the cabinets of the CA immigration officer's for at least 1 year, can I just apply now and provide supplimentary material later on? Will that delay the application process?
