Returning with AP or H4 visa?

Hi,

My hu*****and just knew his I-140 was approved yesterday.
He will file 485 with AP together on November, but I have booked the airticket for my trip to China in December. I am not sure if I can get AP before my trip, If not, Can my hu*****and mail the AP to me so that I can return U.S with AP or I must get H4 visa in Beijing for my returning? Thanks,
