Help!!! one-way ticket for B2 visa coming to U.S.

I was told that you will not be allowed to get on the plane at Shanghai Pudong airport if you have one-way ticket to the U.S.? Is it true? My parents just got their B2 visa and I am buying airline tickets for them. I prefer to buy one-way ticket because I don't know their returning date.
