My current H1 is goint to be expired in June 04. My current employer is going to extend (renew) my H1B for one more year. But I want to file I-140 (NIW) and I-485 now, before the renewed H1 comes out:

Q1 May I file I-140(NIW) and I-485 now? (since my current H1 will be expired in less than 180 days)
Q2 Is it true that "to file I-485 should be done before some time (180 days?) of current visa/status expiration date?
