Ask Xiaobaitu or other expert about parents visa application

My parents want to visit us. They visited us 5 years ago and stayed with us for 1 year ( one 6-month extension ). They also visited us 7 years ago and stayed with us for 1 year ( one 6-month extension). When they apply visa again this year, do they need to bring the two ( or the latest one) 6-month extension approve letter to embassy? Since their passport expired and they will get a new passport. They stayed 1-year for their last two visits. Will this affect their visits. Do they need to bring their old passport when they apply visa? Thanks very much for answring so many questions!
