绿卡申请, 请教

各位, 我老公是2002/10递交申请劳工卡的, 到现在音讯全无. 我问他绿卡申请倒底是个什麽样的过程，他也不知道，也不关心，总说律师知道就可以了。
我想问问大家哪里可以查到相关资料，这样我心里有个数。 谢谢。
