My advisors felt OK if the letters are resonable when I need the letters. In fact the laywer thought that letters from my advisors were perfect. After all, They are American and good at English (my laywer is Chinese). Letter from other sources may be a little tough because they do not want to take the risk. Talk with your advisors politely.
