Do not be that pessimistic. What I suggested is is a fast fix

if you do not want to jump into school right now. Anyway the mistake is CIS's they will fix it eventually. But it may take some time. Stay back and relax. First contact TSC. Your local CIS can help you as well, bring a copy of your F1 application and approval notice, I-20 when meeting local CIS people.
