How can H1-B goes to Hong Kong with US visa?

I have a question. I am working under H1-B now. Plan to visit Hong kong in early Dec for business. If I get my US visa approved in Shanghai before I visit Hong Kong, am I allowed to visit Hong Kong for 3-4 days and then get back to Shanghai?

Also, does anyone know how long it takes to book an interview in US Consulate Shanghai? Shall I book it now?Please kindly advise.
