can B1 go to mexico for H1?

the visa stamp on my passport is B1 (it is already expired), and right now I have been approved for H1. I am planning to go back to China and come back again, so want to get the H1 stamp in mexico.

is that ok for B1 visa holder go to Mexico? anyone has the same experience to share?
