1,withdraw your check for I-485 before it is cashed.CIS will cancel your case even they have sent out a receipt.
2,write a letter to CIS service center ,attach your I-485 receipt's copy,you have to wait a little while until got I-485 receipt,you will lose the application fee of I-485.If you wrote only one check for your I-140 & I-485,you have to do it.
