NSC 485 RFE

My updated status said the 485 RFE was sent out on 08/21/2006. But I haven't received it so far. The status also said "if 30 days have passed and you have not received the notice. Please contact the service center where you ted your application during business hours". But I just don't understand why a letter in US could take more than 11 days. Does anyone have similar experience before? Can I call them now? Thanks.
