Work for a bank, is it easy to get green card?

one friend let me to post for him.
He just got the offer from a top bank. He has a PHD in a top school in USA. He also got another offer which may be stable job.
His question is, is it easy to get green card in a bank? since a lot of guys said they are laid off when working for financial company, and it takes more than 4 years to get a green card, it seems that it is difficult to get the green card.
