that's not very strict definition, as long as your research will have some significance over cancer (I belive so) research, it should be okay. Didn't you find all of the supporting letters boasted you (or many other people) as a superb scientist? That's the clue! I mean, all of the bio-medical study is related to cancer, who can deny this? Just highlight and emphasize it. Don't worry, that's easy, not big deal at all!
