怎麽为家人申请绿卡？

为了我姐小孩能来美读书，我不得不给70多岁的老母申请绿卡。
这样我妈拿到绿卡后就能申请我姐和她孩子了。
不知还有什莫捷径了？这麽做可能要等上N年多？ 不知我妈的绿卡申请我姐要几年？
还有我妈绿卡后来美， 能申请到州政府的 and 联帮的医疗保险，养老金啥的吗？真怕老人在这生病呀！据说老人来美后递申请比在国内等快， 是吗？
