work with EAD

I have a situation like this.
I work for company A through a contract company B who sponsors my H-1b and GC. My GC process is I-485 pending but before 180 days. Now my assignment with A is finished so company B is looking for another assignment for me but not sure how long it will take. Company B promises that my GC process won't be impacted as long as I stay with them. My question is:
Is it possible that I go to work for another firm with EAD without Company B's knowledge given that I will switch back if they find a new one for me?
