Can I use AP when I-140 is pending?

Both my I-140 and I-485 are pending in NSC.But I already got my AP.Is it safe to use AP before I-140 is approved? I asked my lawyer and he said it should be OK but I remember someone here said NO.
anyone can share your experience? and xiaobaitu please?
