Here is my experience:
H1b before apply green card. My hu*****and is in china.
ted I-485 and AP together last September when my hu*****and came to the US with H4 visa for short vacation.
October 2005, received AP.
He came to US again with H4 visa just for FP. He cannot use AP
One reason: he left US before AP approval.
Another reason: in order to stay out of US longer, he cannot use AP either.
I received green card for my whole family last month and my hu*****and is in China.
I will apply reentry for my hu*****and when he comes. he can stay in china for a while.
