Called USCIS, no record for name check?

Today, I called USCIS. My name check is pending. There is no record for my wife's name check. Asked why there is no record and what does it mean. She said it is FBI thing and she does not know why. Does it mean my wife's name check has not been initiated or has been cleared. Thanks.
We sent out I-140/I-485 together in September 2005. My FP was done last October in CA and her FP was done last November in TX.
