one advice

1. Only your Hu*****and needs to go back to china to satisfy the 2-year-home-residence requirement.You do not need to do it.

2. Don't transfer from J2 to J1 (student) for the school if you can get an F1 now. If you fall into the hole of J1 yourself, you will need a waiver in the future when you want a job in the usa after you get the Ph.D. I am sure that you will want to stay in the states after you spend several years here to get the PHD training even though you don't know by yourself now.
