Who can give me the answer?

On my mom's visa, it says: the issue date is 25AUG2005 and the expiration date is 24AUG2006. She came to USA on 18APR2006. She asked for half year staying in USA when she was at entry. Is that mean she can stay here until Oct or she has to leave before 25AUG2005 even she got half year staying here?
