Please help: will I-485 be approved only after I-130 is approved

Hi everyone,
is it necessary to get I-130 approved before getting the green card? Three months have passed and I still do not get the decision about I-130. Howver, I will go to an interview for I-485 soon. I am nervous about this. Thanks a lot!
