xiaobaitu, is that true that TN status can't apply the adjustmen

Here is my status. My employment based I-140 got approval couple months ago, and my PD is current now. So I send all necessary documents for I-485 to my lawyer, but they told me that since my wife she currently in TN status, she can't adjust status inside US, either she go back to Canada to apply from there or change to H1 or H4. Xiaobaitu, is this true? Do you know where I can find this kind of information, any help greatly appreciated
