Driving your own car is unlikely okay. You may be required to declare your car and will bring you trouble after you drive back to US. Better have a rental car. Your landing doc should be valid to get in and get your maple card. I have a friend who got his maple card in person last October. Go to www.immigrationportal.com to have more info.
