Qeustion about I-485 and OPT

I have a question about I-485 and OPT. I sincerely expect your advice on it. I am I-485 pending now. I have finished my fingerprinting in August 2003. My OPT just has two months left. Do you think whether I should apply for H-1? Just in case I don't get my I-485 approval, I still have H-1B for my effective visa status. Appreciate it greatly.
