Before I got my I-140 approved on April 27th, I filed an OPT-based EAD application to VSC on April 10th. This was done because my lawyer initially told me there was no problem. I have been waiting for almost two months. However, recently my future employer's in-house lawyer expressed her concern on if I could get an OPT due to my current status. Alghou she said the question might be not raise, she suggested me file I-485-based EAD ASAP. Then I asked my lawyer again, he still thought I maight be able to get it, but he changed his tone from a positive one to a negative one, saying I should file a new EAD.

I don't care about what kind of EAD. But I know once I file I-485 based EAD, I will never be able to get OPT approved anymore, which means I have to waiting for at least another 3 months or so. According to your experience, how much chance can I have OPT approved? Which service center did you file to and when?

I am looking forward to hearing from you if you don't mind to share a little bit of your personal info.
