You LG will apply special handling + perm to get his labor certificate. It took my LG 9 months to get his LC, which is unusually slow. One of his colleague got it in 10 days. After your LG got LC, he can apply for I140. He can only submit his I485 when his priority date is current. You can apply EAD along with you I485 petition and be able to work with EAD after you got your EAD card.
