Better have a W2

Form 1099-MISC is used by a person or business to report payments made to another person or business who is not an employee. Generally, TN won't cover your work authorization for 1099-MISC.
INS regulations do allow self-employed and contracted applicants to qualify under certain circumstances.However It is very complicated and you need to consult with a professional to discuss your individual situation.
In my opinion,1099 is troublesome. Better to get W2.
