Here is my case. I got a H1B visa in Australia in 2004, and now I have a new H1B approval (I-797) (still valid). I plan to go back Australia for a conference in August/September. An officer in the University tells me that traveling with H1B won't affect my I-485 application (pending). Of course, I need to apply for H1B in Australia again to reenter the US. However, something still worries me: Will I lose my I-485 if I don't have an Advance Parole before I leave for Australia and/or Canada?
