EAD will expire in 1 year. Then if your GC isn't approved, you need to apply for it again so that you can work in USA.

So if possible, I suggest u apply for it as late as possible (but remember it takes about 2months to get it). Please make sure your status is still valid before it's approved.

Most lawyers suggest you apply for AP and EAD at the same time to save their work, I guess.
