H-1 to F-1

I am current in H-1 status and can keep the job as long as I want. But I've already applied to the graduate schools around the country. If I get admitted, I will go to school next year. I'd like to know how long I can the status changed, wether it is easy and what the procedure is. Thanks a lot in front.
