485pending, can I quit my job to be a housewife?

I am currently working under a H1-visa. My hu*****and filed 485 for us and he already got his greencard almost a year ago. My 485 is still pending due to the extreme slowness of FBI's check. In my heart, I really want to quit my job to become a fulltime mom. If I did quit, am I still having a legal status for staying in US? I feel hopeless in waiting for final green card approval.
