mytwocents, I assumed that this is the same question as my EAD. What I learned before is that I will be still on nonimmigration status (F1 for me) so long as I don't use EAD or AP.
but once i use any document based on my I-485, i will automatically turn into AOS status and lose my nonimmigration status.
i did not mean to cast doubt on what you said. but i'm really confused. even my attorney is not clear about this.
