1.Either way will be fine. For extra safety, get a H-1B visa. Anyway, having an AP as a backup is a good idea.
2.Using AP is quite safe. Check www.uscis.gov under processing time to see if you have enough time to get an AP.
3. Try travel agencies on Chinese newspapers.
