Status after h1B

NIW 485 pending. Will lose H1-B status soon. What is my status after losing H1-B? Some people suggest I do not need to do anything to be in legal status. However, my I-94 valid date is the same as the H1-B valid date. Do I need to do anything to update I-94? Many thanks for your input.
