It seems that the officer has a greater discrtion in this siuation. In my original post, I said the case will be held (instead of denied)

I happened to know another case in which the hu*****and withdrew the support to the wife (due to the divoice pending) during 485. The wife's case failed in the end. She later married a citizen and get her Card finally.
