Urgent help!

I am studying in US and hold a Canadian PR card. Does anyone know how to abandon Canadian PR status in US? Can I just bring the maple card to the Canadian consulate and send it in? What other docunments do I need to prepare? Will this experience of cancelling Canadian PR status have any bad effect if I plan to apply for US PR status? Many thanks
