If I take some risk for using EAD work?

I am pending for I-485 approval. My I-140 has been approved in March 2005. Now my H-1 is close to the renewing date for next 3 years. But I am thinking about that if it is better just to use EAD card to continue to work because I have to have some kind complicated procedure through our university and hiring a lawyer to take care for renewing H-1 visa. I hate that.
Your any suggestions are really appreciated.
