I am in the same situation as you.I just canceled my plane ticket.One good thing is that I will graduate soon so I may be able to get a H-1b.Suggestion is that you'd better always keep an status instead of AOS if possible.
Anyway, life is tread-off,I haven't been back for 4 years,too:(
