urgent question

I plan to travel to China during this winter break, right now my I140 has been approved, I have also submitted the application for H-1B extension (my original H-1B has been approved), but have not received approval notice yet. My question is: if I use my AP to come back and H-1B extension still not approved, will I lose my H-1B status?
