I drove my car to land Canada too last year. I put my car in the goods-to-follow list and argued with the Customs officer who requested me to import my car. Finally she allowed me to import my car 4 months later with the followup goods. One of my friends told me that I could tell Canadian MVA that the car has been sold in US and request to cancel the registration. I don't know if this is operatable now. Or you register your car in Canada and drive it back to US. I have a Canadian friend who drove his Canadian car in US for couple of years.
