Emergency questions_ help!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, anyone has experiences to change status to F-1? The form I-539 required me to send my orional I-94 with my application, I really dont' want to, because I am worrying they will lose it or forgot to return to me. anyone suggestion will be appreciated. many Thanks.
