H-1B transfer Help!

Now I am 485 pending, I need move to another place to work. Is there any gap between H-1B transfer? I heard from somebody that there should not be any gap between transfer. Is that true? My spouse(H-4)is working with EAD. Can he keep H-4 after using EAD ( may keep H-4 and AOS at the same time)? Somebody told me that he will keep H-4 after using EAD if I keep H-1B. Your answer will be appreciate
