Do I need to go to USCIS local office?

Hi there:

My hu*****and's I-485 got approved but mine still pending (through his NIW, I-140 approved in 2004). We went back China for a visit last year using AP and on my I-94 there is a stamp reads "paroled until Nov 20, 2005". earlier this year I asked USCIS local office, and was told if till Nov. 20, 2005 I still did not get my I-485 approval (I don't think it's possible due to the retrogression), I need to go to USCIS local office again so that they can renew /extend that date. Is it true? Is it necessary to go to local office again?
