今天和我公司的律师去了当地的DHS, 因为我两次没有签证从墨西哥回来的时候，原来的
I94被边境收走了，给了我一张有效期两个星期的I94,要求我到当地的DHS报道。

DHS的Officer非常有善，和新拉雷多的希尔维亚天壤之别。她让我填了一个I193（Visa
waiver)的表格，看了我的材料，交了申请费，就给了我一个新的I94。

她还告诉我领事馆没有理由取消我的有效签证，完全不符合程序。在我问她我是否得回到
新拉雷多去签证时，她说当然不要再去了。

我的新拉雷多的遭遇就此告一段落。不好的是我的部门为此和法律部开了一个会议，询问
我的情况是否是单一事件，或者会影响所有的外国雇员，结论是只有中国人有三个月的签
证有效期，所以中国人属于高风险的雇员。我怀疑这在将来影响到我们这里申请工作的中
国人。

。新拉雷多的希尔维亚生为西班牙裔，却在墨西哥的领馆里胡作非为，确是和台湾裔或日
裔的签证官在中国领馆里，对梦想到美国的中国学生大开杀戒颇有类似之处。曹植的“本
是同根生，相煎何太急”在这个新移民血汗造就的国家是不适用的。

I've very sad to read this but not that surprised. The only
constituents of Congressional representatives who have any clout are
citizens and their employers. Unless
your CIS record shows that you need to go back to Nuevo Laredo, I
suggest going to Toronto or Vancouver for your next try. I am ashamed
to read accounts like yours but this kind of xenophobia goes back at
least to Ellis Island, the entry point for so many people who came here
from Europe. And, yes, the stories of the problems that people from
Eastern Europe had coming in through Ellis Island do say that many of
the officials who harassed them were themselves only first or second
generation immigrants.
